My last two blogs have focused on donor engagement scoring – how to build the scoring model and how to utilize it within your organization to drive the most value. Today we will be focusing on the future of where we want to take the concept of donor engagement scoring at Peak Engagement. Fasten your seat-belts! In part one of this blog series, I explained that donor engagement can be quantified by analyzing the interaction you have with your donors. For example, giving history, volunteer history or event attendance would all be interactions that speak to a donor’s engagement. Once you have defined those engagements, you should develop a point value for each type of engagement. In part two, I discussed how to utilize that donor engagement score within your organization to create actionable intelligence. Miss my first two posts of this series? Read part I or part II now. Today we are going to explore the idea of predictive analysis with our donor engagement scoring. So far, the donor engagement scoring we have laid out has been based on a reactive model. We are looking at history of engagement, and quantifying that history, to better understand our donors – but what if we could use it more proactively? We talked about trends in scoring – what if we could use those trends to predict outcomes? That is where we are looking to take this concept in the future releases of our Peak NFP product. There are tools available today that make these types of concepts much more realistic than in times past. Azure Machine Learning is one such tool. Azure Machine Learning is a cloud-based service from Microsoft that enables us to explore and analyze large amounts data and identify patterns that can be used to solve problems, gain intelligence, and even make suggestions on actions you should take. By utilizing a service like Azure Machine Learning, we can take all of this engagement data, and not only have a reactive score about a donor’s past engagement, but start to identify the patterns that help us know who the future engaged donors will be. Imagine having your donor management tool giving you suggestions about who to engage with. Pretty cool stuff! As we continue our strong focus on the non-profit space, these are the types of investments we will continue to make in our products.
