I consider myself to be a non-technical resource to our customers and partners. When it comes to technology, I definitely embrace it but have had my fair share of technology challenges over the years. This week, I decided to put my customer hat on and go through my own trial of CRM Vertex. One of our taglines is “Portals in minutes” and I wanted to test this out for myself. To get started, I set up a 30-day trial of CRM Online and navigated to https://signup.crmvertex.com to complete the submission for the 30-day trial of CRM Vertex. After getting everything submitted and receiving the information for the CRM Online and Vertex trial, I began to read through the documentation with the intent to set up a portal for my fictitious company. I started by importing the solution, publishing the customizations and proceeding with the set up. Without any background with Microsoft Dynamics CRM consulting and computer programming in general, I was able to set up a Help Desk, Knowledge Base, and Videos location for my fake company within an hour, all through point and click configuration inside of CRM. I even placed an image of Bill Gates within a knowledge base article and I swear he winked at me. Portal solutions within the Microsoft Dynamics CRM space have historically been time consuming and expensive projects. Try it for yourself like I did and see the simple, yet powerful things you can do to engage your customers more effectively. I mentioned in a previous blog that 50% of all customer interactions now begin online. If that is true, what is your online strategy and what have you done to ensure that your customer comes to you first? If I can do it, so can you!
