CRM Vertex is a portal solution for Microsoft Dynamics CRM that enables you to extend your CRM information to your customers and drive customer engagement through the web. For CRM Vertex to function, Microsoft Dynamics CRM must be accessible from the internet. CRM Online or partner-hosted CRM is already configured for internet-facing capabilities, so you are able to utilize CRM Vertex out of the box. For Microsoft Dynamics CRM on-premise, an ADFS-based IFD, as recommended by Microsoft, is the required configuration to use CRM Vertex’s cloud-hosted portal solution. Another restriction to using the CRM Vertex cloud hosted portal in a Microsoft Dynamics CRM on-premise environment is utilizing an SSL certificate for securing data in transfer between your CRM and the CRM Vertex portal. CRM Vertex does not support self-signed certificates. For Microsoft Dynamics CRM on-premise users who wish to purchase and run CRM Vertex on-premise (this requires the up-front licensing purchase of CRM Vertex), an IFD is not a requirement. In these scenarios, CRM Vertex must be hosted on a server that is trusted on the same domain as the CRM server. This server can be setup on the local network, or in a DMZ. For more information about configuring an ADFS-based IFD, please refer to the following Microsoft article, or contact CRM Vertex for assistance.
